Dear Valued Artist,
You are invited to participate in the 6th annual Sculpt Siouxland Exhibit! Sculptures chosen for the 2010-2011 exhibit will be on loan to Sculpt Siouxland for a duration of one year to be featured in a unique outdoor display located throughout downtown Sioux City. All Call for Entry forms must be received no later than January 31, 2010.

History
The Sculpt Siouxland Exhibit was founded in 2005 by the Sioux City Growth Organization in an effort to educate the public, promote interactive art and feature artists and their work in downtown Sioux City. Due to the exhibit’s growth and success, Sculpt Siouxland now operates independently with the purpose of improving the quality of life in Sioux City by engaging and educating the public on the potential of art in public spaces.

Criteria
The exhibit is open to professional and emerging artists of all backgrounds. Sculpt Siouxland is a public project and all proposed sculptures are screened to insure durability and artistic merit prior to acceptance. Fragile, dangerous and/or inappropriate pieces will not be accepted.

Artists are responsible for insuring their own piece(s) against vandalism and damage, so plan ahead to construct pieces made of durable material safe and sustainable for the year-long outdoor public setting. Each sculpture exhibited must have a metal base plate secured to the bottom, which will allow it to be welded to a quartzite pedestal or concrete pad. If an alternative installation process is necessary, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

You may submit multiple sculptures for judging, but Sculpt Siouxland will only allow up to two (2) pieces into the exhibit per artist, per year.

Pricing
We welcome all sculptures with their values dictated by you- the artist. The selling price advertised should include the 30% commission Sculpt Siouxland will retain on pieces sold in the exhibit year. If a sculpture is sold at anytime while on exhibit for Sculpt Siouxland, a new, original sculpture is requested to be put in its place for the duration of the exhibit.

Awards
Artists featured in the exhibit will be eligible to win the following awards:

Judge’s Choice – $750*
People’s Choice – $500
Children’s Choice – $250

All award recipients automatically earn acceptance into the following year’s Sculpt Siouxland exhibit. To take advantage of this opportunity, award recipients must submit a new, original sculpture to Sculpt Siouxland by January 31, 2011.

Exposure
Public support and recognition are imperative to the exhibit’s success, so throughout the exhibit year promotion efforts are organized to increase exposure and enhance sales opportunities.

In May, at the end of each exhibit year, a public celebration is held to feature the artists and their sculptures. Sculpt Siouxland artists are highly encouraged to attend this event in order to strengthen relationships with potential buyers and increase sales opportunities. Artists chosen for this exhibit can watch for more details on their celebration, set to take place May 2011.

In Appreciation
To show our appreciation for your support and participation, each artist accepted into the 2010-2011 Sculpt Siouxland exhibit will be provided one free hotel room courtesy of Sculpt Siouxland. This room is to be used for the Sculpt Siouxland installation either Friday, April 30 or Saturday, May 1, 2010. A welcome reception for all exhibit artists will be held on May 1.
